The Kit Digital Program
January 2022
The Kit Digital program foresees the investment of more than 3,000 million euros in the digitalization of companies in Spain.
The Government has drawn up the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, based on four cross-cutting themes: ecological transition, digital transformation, territorial and social cohesion, and gender equality. The digitalisation programme for SMEs is the one that takes the largest share of the budget allocated to this plan.
The objective of the Digitalisation Programme is to promote SMEs and the self-employed to advance in the digital transformation process in Spain, a country with 3 million small and medium-sized enterprises, of which only 16% are digitised.
The application for grants will be made in phases until 2023, the first of which started in 2021, for 500 million euros for companies with between 10 and 49 employees. The idea is to continue launching new grants between 2022 and 2023 to complete the 3 billion euros.
These 3 billion will be distributed in the form of digital vouchers, which will allow the purchase of solutions or services that are available on the market and that will help these companies to create websites, manage company processes or increase their cybersecurity, among others.
This substantial investment plan will greatly boost the IT sector in Spain and attract many foreign companies that want to take part in the digitalisation of Spanish companies.
FOCUS ON THE AGRI-FOOD SECTOR WITH AGROIMPULSO :
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food promotes the digital transformation of Spanish companies in the agri-food sector and in rural areas, through participatory loans.
AgroInnpulso is the name of the financing plan that aims to encourage the digitalization of companies in the agri-food sector and rural areas.
This program is the result of an agreement between the Ministry and ENISA (Empresa Nacional de Innovacion, S.A.), for which 13 million euros of funds have been allocated, in 2021. In 2022 and 2023, it is planned to continue this program by signing agreements for 15 and 10 million euros.
The financial instrument, administered by ENISA, allows companies to access an equity loan, with amounts ranging from 25,000 to 1,500,000 euros.
To obtain a loan, companies must be part of the agri-food sector, have their headquarters in Spain and be small or medium-sized, as defined by the European Union.
They must also demonstrate the viability of their technical and economic project, and present an innovative business model, new or with clear competitive advantages. Special attention is given to projects that have the capacity to generate quality jobs for young people and women.
