From June 16th to the 22nd, ALTIOS proudly participated in the Business France Energy Tour Delegation that took place in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand. This significant event came right after European Union Free Trade Agreement (EU FTA) with New Zealand, which entered into effect on May 1st. The EU FTA focuses on sustainability, green transition, technology, and infrastructure development. It marks a new era of collaboration between New Zealand and the European Union.
Focus on Sustainability and Green Transition
A key part of the EU FTA is the commitment to sustainability and the green transition, especially in wind, solar, and hydro energy. Both New Zealand and France share a common vision of fostering sustainable practices and reducing carbon footprints. Therefore, the delegation highlighted opportunities for collaboration in these sectors, emphasizing the shared values and goals between the two nations.
Technology and Innovation
New Zealand is renowned for its innovative spirit, particularly in the fields of agritech and healthcare. Consequently, ALTIOS also attended the Fieldays event at Mystery Creek, the largest agritech event in the Southern Hemisphere. This event provided ALTIOS with the opportunity to explore a diverse range of Kiwi agritech businesses, each with immense potential for global expansion. The insights gained from Fieldays highlight New Zealand’s position as a land of innovation and technological advancement.
Infrastructure Development
An important part of the EU FTA focuses on the need to develop a predictable infrastructure pipeline in New Zealand. This includes the demand for building materials and expertise, highlighting the importance of sustainable development, trade, labor, environment, gender equality, and climate change considerations. The FTA aims to provide additional certainty to New Zealand businesses, covering not only goods but also services and government procurement. This enables SMEs to access tenders that were previously out of reach, offering new opportunities for competitiveness and growth.
Partnership with Business France
ALTIOS is a referenced partner of Business France in New Zealand. We are proud and honored to be part of this unique French Delegation, aiming to address the challenges of sustainability and renewables implementation in New Zealand.
