Invest in Bavaria

How one of Europe’s hot spots for business is attracting industry leaders from all over the world

Bavaria’s GDP of €568 billion (US$630 billion) puts it ahead of 21 of the 28 EU member states—making this area of Germany a prime target for worldwide companies and investors. The state is home to such global players as Adidas, Audi, BMW, and Siemens, as well as a growing list of small- and medium-sized businesses and technology-oriented start-ups.

A warm welcome support on the ground

When Invest in Bavaria set up in 1999, their goal was to help international companies settle and thrive in the area by providing information, advice and services while connecting companies to a network of specialists and infrastructure. The result has been almost 2 decades of offering free, confidential and individualized support to businesses from around the world.

“We offer different ways to help businesses set up in Bavaria,” says Eva Apfel, Senior Manager Investor Services at Invest in Bavaria. “First, we provide services like information on Bavaria, networking, events, legal aspects, and taxes.

“Second, we offer location search to help companies find the right spot to set up—from a plot to an office building, co-working space, and more. And the third part of our service is providing contacts, like lawyers, private service providers, tax consultants, and public institutions.”

The French connection: Partnering with ALTIOS International

The State of Bavaria has representative offices in 23 countries, but has worked with private companies in France to generate leads for several years. Last year, ALTIOS International won their call for tender in France, and has been representing the government agency in the region for about half a year.

“As a representative for Invest in Bavaria,” says Christelle OLIVEIRA from ALTIOS International Paris, “our company is able to rely on our network to promote the region’s unique advantages when speaking with French investors.”

Top representation in key industries

Bavaria is rich in industries from every sector, and promoting the area is key to creating a global village both within Germany as well as across Europe.

“There is a big sector diversity in Bavaria,” says Eva Apfel. “We have a strong automotive sector, as well as mechanical engineering, electronics, aerospace, medical technology, chemistry, and more. The biggest advantage Bavaria can offer is the business opportunities you can get here.”

We look forward to our continued collaboration,” says Christelle OLIVEIRA. “Invest in Bavaria and ALTIOS International form a promising partnership that will further encourage Europe and the rest of the world to set up in the Bavaria region.”
